PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION

The COMPACT filter comes in three versions:

  • Compact.4 with 4 filter cartridges
  • Compact.6 with 6 filter cartridges
  • Compact.9 with 9 filter cartridges

The three versions of COMPACT, thanks to the efficiency of the filter cartridges, help solve many dedusting problems, both in environmental safeguarding systems in the workplace, and in process machinery. COMPACT can be used in a wide array of industrial sectors (mechanical, ironworks, chemical-pharmaceutical, energy, building sites, rubber, plastic, electronic, woodworking, etc.) for suction and filtering of dust and fumes.

CARACTERISTIC

Cartridges are cleaned with a counter current “reverse pulse jet” system, using dry, de-oiled compressed air at 5 bar with an electronic sequencer. It monitors the operation, following cycles and planned intervals, at opening and closing, for fractions of seconds, of solenoid valves to determine the “reverse jet” effect that can causes a pressure wave by causing the air inside the cartridges to expand, which in turn causes the external dust layer to detach.

The sequencer is an integrated model with a differential pressure gauge and continuous readings, on the luminous display of the Δp value, to have a constant view of the filter’s condition of efficiency. This equipment has two set points: the first is set to a certain Δp value to allow the “reverse jet” cleaning system to intervene only when the set point is reached (with a significant savings of compressed air). The second, obviously higher, allows the alarm limit, which indicates that a dangerous clog is beginning to form.

At the end of each work shift, the device starts the post cleaning system with the fan stopped, acting in a situation of calm, without counter pressure from the suction system, to make sure the filter is in the best conditions of cleanliness for the next work shift. Inside, the filter has a preseparation chamber to render homogeneous the impact of dusty air with the filter cartridges, and limit mechanical stress. The COMPACT is fitted with a steel container with a quick coupling connection to the hopper to collect filtered dust.

Treated air can, if allowed, be recirculated in the department or expelled into the atmosphere (Leg.D 152/06). The effectiveness of the cartridges is 99.92%, according to severe tests run periodically by B.G.I.A. Berufgenossenschaftliches Institut für Arbeitssicherheit (Interprofessional Institute for Workplace Safety). The test is carried out on the new filter medium.

Filtration velocity (passing through the filter medium) is calibrated during the test to 0.056 m/sec (3.36 m/min). Quartz dust with a concentration varying from 200 to 20 mg/m3 is used. Ninety percent of the particles of the dust used for the test measures between 0.2 and 2 microns. (DIN 53887). For particular operating conditions, cartridges with a special treatment are used (anti-static ME with permeable membrane in Aluminium or Steel; oil and water repellent with TR Teflon® Resin; antipacking PW silicone or PTFE with permeable membrane Teflon® - temperature resistant in Nomex® or Ryton®).
