CARTRIDGE FILTERS

Design, construction, installation and maintenance of cartridge filters for industrial dust removal and the elimination of fumes and dust in industry of all sizes and capacities.

What are cartridge filters?

Cartridge filters are filtration devices Dry filters, used for the removal of solid particles suspended in the air and therefore suitable for the abatement of a wide range of different pollutants.

The operating principle is mechanical: contaminated air is forced to pass through the cartridges, which contain structures of folded polymeric material; these retain the dry particulate matter, thus reducing its presence in the air. Often, to avoid too rapid a packing of the cartridges themselves, the air is first subjected to a pre-filtration phase, so as to eliminate the larger and heavier particulate matter; in addition to this, for the same reason, the use of cartridge filters is not recommended where strongly hygroscopic dusts are present.

That said, cartridge filters are mainly used where handling and weighing, machining, or operations such as grinding, oxy-cutting, or extrusion are carried out.

The five standard types of cartridge filters produced by Bruno Balducci are:

Why are cartridge filters used?

Cartridge filters are ideal in all situations where powders without a tendency to aggregate must be treated; however, they can work on particle sizes from medium to fine (0.20-0.25 µm).

Cartridge dust collection technology essentially presents three advantages:

  • Ease of use:
Cartridge technology has been in use for a long time, is consolidated and easy to use.
  • Low maintenance requirements:
The maintenance requirements of a cartridge filter are very low: the self-cleaning systems with compressed air greatly reduce the need for intervention, limiting them almost exclusively to the replacement and disposal of the cartridges themselves.
  • Reduced footprint:
The main strength of cartridge filters lies in the very large filter surface area they develop – thanks to their pleated structure – in a very small footprint, which can be up to 10 times smaller than that of a similar sized bag filter.

The reference legislation for cartridge filters is based on BAT (Best Available Technologies), which the tables of the Italian Regions refer to.

The cartridge filtration products of Bruno Balducci srl

As manufacturers of our cartridge filters, here at Bruno Balducci srl we are able to design and customize each filter according to the application conditions, the sector of use and the filtration efficiency required by the customer.

We are able to create for you filters with vertical or horizontal mounting of the cartridges, in both fixed and wheeled models depending on the need, using the material of your choice among galvanized sheet metal, painted carbon steel, AISI304 and AISI316, also creating cartridge filters usable in Atex environments ; we can also supply you with any replacement cartridge for filter replacement.

In addition to this we can custom build for you components and spare parts for older systems, for which it has become difficult or impossible to find original spare parts on the marketOur service includes, in fact, in addition to design and production, also all the maintenance operations necessary to maintain your filtration devices in perfect efficiency.
