Coalescing and Oil Mist Filters
What are coalescing filters?
Why are coalescing filters used?
Oil removal from air flows is an essential process in various industrial sectors, because the continuous deposition of oily micro-droplets on the surfaces of machinery leads, in the long run, to a decrease in their efficiency and to potential malfunctions.
Coalescence technology is among the preferred ones in the treatment of oil mist because of the substantial advantages it offers:
-
Very high separation efficiency:
even where the suspended oil particles are smaller than a micron, coalescing filters are able to retain percentages well above 90%, exceeding all emission thresholds dictated by law
-
Reduced maintenance needs:
not only do coalescing filters require minimal maintenance, but even when this is temporarily neglected their efficiency remains very high for a long time
-
Recovery possibility:
the oil droplets separated from the air flow do not undergo any molecular alteration, and can therefore be recovered and reused if the specific production process allows it
The reference standard for activated carbon filters is based on BAT (Best Available Technologies), which are the basis for the tables of the Italian Regions.
