The production phases of electroplating processes (which include, for example, processes such as chrome plating, gold plating, nickel plating, and all similar processes) in which dangerous emissions of harmful vapors and gases are encountered are numerous. The problem already arises during degreasing, an absolutely necessary process but for which it is necessary to use aggressive chemical products, which release harmful fumes; the same applies to the pickling process, in which strong acids are used, and in both cases the actual procedure is followed by cleaning and neutralization of the tanks, which require the use of other harmful chemical products. As for the electroplating processes themselves, the substances necessary for the preparation of the metal bath often release vapors of extreme toxicity: for example, we mention among these substances cyanide, whose danger to the organism is well known.
